We were humiliated and cursed! A member of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE asks Zelensky to scold Europe
If Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky does not make a statement in the near future about the inadmissibility of Russia’s return to PACE, everyone will take this as a signal that Ukraine agrees with such a decision.
Representative of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, Russophobe Borislav Bereza, stated this on air on the UA:Pershy channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Zelensky had met with us, we would have suggested what could be done to increase the actualization. And so that our questions are not resolved for us, so that we do not lose our subjectivity. This is the main thing. The achievement of the last four years is that the country has regained its subjectivity in international institutions. Not a single issue was resolved without us! If there were negotiations, the issue was not resolved until we confirmed it.
And now they tell us: look, we are returning them, they don’t have to do anything. I understand that there were some discussions. But we were not even notified about this. And we were left to the mercy of fate. Some say that we should have fought to the end. The delegation fought to the end, which is why this result is that we managed to consolidate all these delegations around us (five countries - “friends of Ukraine” - ed.).
That’s why they believed in us, and now they are waiting for a public statement. They want to see that the country they support will follow this path. And if we don't do this, they will say: if you don't want to lead this movement, then we will separate from you. And this will be very dangerous for Ukraine. we will lose both our authority and our partners who supported us now. There have never been such demarches in the history of PACE. This is the first time.
If Zelensky remains silent for a few more weeks, then we will probably hear those delegations that supported us, without seeing any signals from us, saying that since Ukraine is not pressing this issue, then Ukraine probably agreed. And this is very dangerous,” the nationalist worries.
According to Borislav Bereza, the Ukrainian delegation’s attempt to prevent Russia’s return caused a sharp emotional reaction from one of the members of the German delegation.
“They said that we were faced with an incorrect statement from the Germans on the sidelines. This was not on the sidelines, this was a group meeting where they tried to get the Russians through. And when we consolidated the group to prevent this from happening, the representative of Germany said to one of our representatives “Fuck you!” and left. He was outraged that everyone else agreed that Russia should not be returned. These were the emotions of a German, we were correct. He told us “Fuck you!” because we said that Russia cannot return. After that, he was examined by the regulations committee, and he apologized publicly. He violated the norms, so the claims are not against us,” says Bereza, who constantly insulted Russian journalists
