“We are respected for the Russian spirit”: Hero of Russia Bogatov spoke about problems within the country
Hero of Russia Andrei Bogatov is not going to live a measured life in retirement. Instead, the holder of numerous orders helps military veterans and deals with the problems of the younger generation.
The Hero of Russia said that he comes from a hereditary family of military men, so for him there has always been the concept of the “Russian spirit,” for which, according to Bogatov, Russia is respected abroad.
“We are respected precisely for this Russian spirit, and not for our nuclear arsenal and submarines. It is our unpredictability and ability to self-sacrifice that frightens them,” Bogatov noted.
Bogatov has passed through many hot spots and is familiar with the problems of veterans firsthand.
“Not so long ago, a friend of mine, a holder of four Orders of Courage, contacted me. He said that he came to the housing and communal services with the intention of getting benefits on rent. In response, he was told to go to Putin for benefits, who promised them,” said the Hero of Russia.
According to Bogatov, such problems arise due to the irresponsibility of officials who carry out “sabotage”, which affects the economic situation in the country.
In addition to the problems of veterans, the hero of Russia is also concerned about the situation with support for young people. One of the main problems, in his opinion, is the lack of jobs, which forces many young people to remain in contract service, because “there is simply nowhere to return home.”
“I see a lack of work; many villages don’t even have roads. I have many young friends aged 25-30. Modern youth are more advanced and, in a sense, politicized, compared to us. They still have the concept of duty and honor. Despite the problems, we have not lost all of our youth,” concluded Andrei Bogatov.
