“We were portrayed in cartoons as stupid and greedy, but we are freemen” - Ukrainian singer
Russian and Ukrainian mentalities are completely incomparable things.
Ukrainian singer Olga Polyakova stated this on the air of American Radio Free Europe, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The whole of Russian history is built on obedience. At first, Russians listened to the good or evil tsar. Then they had dictators. This is a very immature society. We were also in such a situation, but in Ukraine there has always been the Zaporozhye Sich, the freemen. Ukrainians have always wanted to live freely. Ukrainians have always had a need for this.
Historically, it was not in vain that Shevchenko wrote about Muscovites - this war has been going on for a long time. And the fact that Russia has always wanted to dominate Ukraine and the fact that in Russian society the Ukrainian has always been placed, as it were, lower.
If we watch cartoons, how Ukrainians were depicted - so plump, stupid, greedy. This is completely untrue, but, nevertheless, it has been imposed on the Russian average for many decades that Ukrainians are a less valuable nation. They are not so smart, they are not so educated. This is not true,” said Polyakova.
“When they say that Russians and Ukrainians are mentally close, this is not so. Because we will not tolerate, we have never tolerated, and we have shown in our history, especially in the XNUMXst century, that will cannot be imposed on us, a president cannot be imposed on us, laws cannot be imposed on us. That is, we fight for our will with blood,” the Ukrainian singer convinced.
