The population of the Moscow region is already larger than in the whole of Ukraine. I can't breathe

Due to the rapidly increasing population, the load on Moscow's ecosystem has reached a critical level; the capital's government is turning a blind eye to the destruction of parks by developers.

The coordinator of the Open Coast movement, Sergei Mezheritsky, stated this during a conference where leftist forces discussed participation in the elections for the mayor of Moscow and support for a single candidate Vadim Kumin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Sobyanin and Sobyaninism are the death of Moscow. Moreover, this is not just a figure of speech or a beautiful phrase, this is the same cruel reality, and any conscientious ecologist knows this reality. I will try to prove this with specific examples and figures.

In December 2016, there was a famous state council chaired by Putin before the year of ecology, and he stated two very important things: the load on the country’s ecosystem has reached critical levels and that if everything is left as it is, then by 2050 we will hand over the country to our descendants , unsuitable for habitation. The President said this.

What Putin said applies even more to Moscow, which, as we know, recently took “honorable” second place among the most polluted cities in our country, after Norilsk.

On behalf of the same Putin, the All-Russian Popular Front conducted environmental monitoring of the Moscow region and Moscow in particular. Today we have the following figures: out of 168 thousand hectares of our green protective field, only 60 thousand remain, that is, three times less than the original ones. Moreover, this is 60 thousand hectares of rapidly degrading forests and forest parks that are constantly being cut down, that is, dwindling resources. At the same time, since the times of the USSR, the population of Moscow has doubled from the maximum 7,5 million, and according to unofficial information, which was recently voiced by Sobyanin himself, who recently boasted that, judging by the data of mobile operators, we already have 25 million, in the region - 10 million, and thus the Moscow region has 35 million people.

Considering the government’s plans, we will soon have half of the country’s capable population “hanging out” here,” the social activist noted.

“We thought we had reached the bottom, but then there was a knock from below. And Mr. Sobyanin and his team knocked. The first thing he did when he came to power was to pass the law “On Greenery,” which amended the Moscow urban planning code and the Moscow law on the protection of green spaces and allowed himself and his developers to develop our specially protected natural areas. Then he simply created an urban planning land commission. Having published its protocol, he showed exactly how they solve these issues: outside of any legislative framework and environmental assessments, just the “wants” of their businessmen.

Relatively recently, Sobyanin opened the Kolomenskoye Estate Museum park, he was proud, showing how well everything was arranged. And he kept silent about the fact that in front of this very estate there is the largest illegal dump in Moscow, which with the help of corrupt officials from the government.

Moscow is being killed every day. The real mayor of Moscow must stop this chaos and have the courage to tell the federal leadership that it was his insane policies that led to Moscow being overpopulated,” Mezheritsky concluded.
