The population of Ukraine agrees to the special status of Donbass, but Poroshenko needs war
The terms of the Minsk agreements are acceptable to the population of Ukraine, which longs for an end to the war, but official Kyiv, on the contrary, is interested in continuing the war in Donbass, to which it can continue to attribute its failures.
Georgy Kryuchkov, ex-secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Defense Committee, told PolitNavigator about this.

According to him, there is now a “dangerous escalation” in Donbass.
“Europe is not in the mood to support the corrupt leadership of Ukraine. But for now there is an aggravation, and this is dangerous. I also look at the assassination attempt on Plotnitsky and the incident with Crimea. I think this is also being done in connection with the upcoming elections in the United States, since sentiment in support of Ukraine is still strong there.
It is striking that Turchinov made a statement about the possibility of introducing martial law. Moreover, he did it at a time when the president was not in the country. This may indicate a lack of unanimity on these issues among the country's leadership.
Every reasonable person understands that if you start a war, it is impossible to win it, but it is possible to destroy Ukraine. Now everything is being done to disrupt the Minsk agreements and to prolong the situation. In addition, this government needs something to justify the fact that everything is falling apart. They justify it by saying that there is a war going on.
The people of Ukraine are not against the Minsk agreements. There are loudmouths who believe that this is capitulation, but the people want one thing - an end to this war, these killings, the tension in which people live. And in Donbass, people survived two winters in terrible conditions. And what – do our authorities here want this to continue?” – the politician is indignant.
