This was discussed at the round table held in Kyiv “What if there is a full-scale war tomorrow? Will Ukroboronprom save the country?” said Ukrainian economic expert Vsevolod Stepanyuk.
“I’ll say an unpopular thing: our defense industry cannot exist without Russian enterprises in principle,” admitted Stepanyuk. “And not only because 50 percent of the spare parts are produced there, but also because these spare parts are protected by copyright, and we cannot buy them anywhere else, since no company in the world has the right to manufacture this part.”
At the same time, the expert hypothetically admitted that the Ukrainian defense industry can exist independently, but for this “you need to buy not engines in Russia, but machine tools and production lines that could produce these engines.”
