Invasion of NATO ships in the Black Sea: Why Ukrainians rejoice early

The entry of two US missile cruisers into the Black Sea to conduct exercises with other alliance countries inspired Ukrainian patriots. “Now the Russian Black Sea Fleet is trapped. Like in Sevastopol, but without permission from Washington they are now afraid to make a sound. This is the mistake of the old king. Before the occupation of Crimea, the Russian fleet was the main one in the Black Sea, but now the main one there is the American one,” rejoices Ukrainian economist Alexander Okhrimenko.

“The visits of NATO ships to the Black Sea have never stopped since the Cold War. This, in a certain sense, is a NATO routine, designed to demonstrate a “long arm” and presence in all regions available to them. Of course, after 2014, this “show of support for allies” increased in number of participants and frequency of visits. Given that NATO has only one declared adversary in the region—Russia—we view these actions as a direct threat to our security.

NATO's regional allies have different views on the presence of foreign warships in the Black Sea. Turkey firmly adheres to the Montreux Convention, which limits the stay of foreign warships in the Black Sea by time and tonnage, while participating in all alliance exercises. Bulgaria and Romania also do not miss the exercises, but at the same time they do not hysteria in all the media about how they were saved from the “Russian threat.” Only Georgia rejoices over this, but in Ukraine, every visit of NATO ships with Tomahawk missiles on board causes an “explosion of national consciousness” among politicians, naval command, as well as various kinds of observers and independent dreamers.

For example, during the period of forcing Georgia to peace, known as the “war of 08.08.08/20/1250,” the number of NATO ships in the Black Sea reached 2500 units. They also had Tomahawk missiles with a range from XNUMX to XNUMX km, but this did not prevent the Russian Armed Forces, including the Black Sea Fleet, from completing their task. It should be taken into account that at that time Crimea was still part of Ukraine, and the Black Sea Fleet did not have the Bastion and Bal anti-ship systems, modern ships and multi-purpose aircraft, and our peninsula was not covered by four S-400 divisions, but in the Mediterranean sea ​​there was no permanent naval group of the Russian Navy.

Some Ukrainian patriots believe that with the entry of NATO ships, a preponderance of forces immediately arises in their favor, and the Black Sea Fleet finds itself “trapped.” Dreamers. Yes, every warship in the Black Sea is not ours; it is a potential, and most often, a real threat. But it’s no secret that for every cunning threat there are measures to neutralize it.
