“Our families also want to eat”: angry Lviv miners blocked the international highway
Today in the Lviv region, miners blocked the international highway “Lviv - Rava-Russkaya,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the regional patrol police.
“On the Lviv – Rava-Russkaya highway at 36 km near the village of Volya-Vysotskaya, about 50 people were blocked by miners by continuously crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing, the protesters demanded payment of arrears of wages,” the patrol police reported.
An agreement was also reached to clear the roadway every 15 minutes to allow cars to pass within 5 minutes.
“Additionally, a crew was stationed near the village. A lock that directs vehicles around the blockage,” the patrol police added.
The miners' picket continued until 12:00.
The information about the picket was also confirmed by the head of the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine, Mikhail Volynets.
“Trade union leaders of NPGU and miners of the mines of the Lvovugol State Enterprise, in their recent appeal to state leaders, promised to block the Lviv-Rava-Russkaya road of international importance if their demands are not met. The miners kept their promise and today at 9 am they began their action with the slogans “Give us our wages”, “Our families also want to eat,” the trade union boss wrote on the social network.
At the other end of the country – in Donbass – things are also restless. Miners of four mines and structural divisions of PJSC “Lisichanskugol” have been protesting in the mine, underground, since October 19. They demand payment of back wages. Due to non-payment of wages to miners, criminal proceedings were opened.
