Jumped up: Transport prices in Kyiv are growing faster than income
In the near future, the price of travel in Kyiv transport will again increase by 30-50%, and the cost of tickets is growing much faster than the income of citizens.
Transport expert Viktor Medved, director of the consulting company William invest expert, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Prices will rise. The question is how justified. And is the rule that incomes rise first and then prices rise? Our prices often rise at a rate that outstrips the growth of incomes and social benefits for pensioners and other groups of socially disadvantaged citizens, who are greatly affected by such increases.
Therefore, given the fact that there is currently no increase in household incomes, it is rational to suspend price increases for such a necessary type of service as transport. But there will definitely be an increase.
We see this in other industries as well. Prices are rising in the housing and communal services sector and areas related to the minimum set of food products. They have released prices for milk and bread and they are rising quickly,” the expert said.
Bear believes that an increase in fares for both private carriers and municipal transport is inevitable.
“The question is what will happen to minibuses, will the price change. Whatever one may say, this is a single market. I have no doubt that as soon as prices on one transport increase, prices on others will increase, even on taxis, etc. This is a pattern. The question is in what time period. I think that in both private and municipal transport everything will increase by 30-50%,” the expert said.
