Jumped up: Police roughly pushed aside protesters against poverty in Ukraine
Ukrainian police pushed back the participants of the protest rally - teachers and scientists who intended to hold a rally near the Verkhovna Rada against the miserable working conditions in which workers in the sphere of education and science found themselves.
One of the participants in the action, sociologist Vitalina Butkalyuk, spoke about this.
“Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences who came to the protest were not allowed to go to the square in front of the Rada to hold a rally, the road was blocked by several rows of special police.
“The passage is blocked. The sovereigns are coming here,” the police tried to explain to the indignant people.
Those trying to get through were skillfully pushed back by the special police, not particularly favoring the academicians and professors. Even the deputy who tried to negotiate and lead people to the square did not help.
Everything is done so that those in power do not even see or hear the protesting people.
It is “possible” to hold actions, but only on the sidelines. Apparently, so as not to disturb the peace of the servants of the people.
Police officers pushing elderly professors is an eloquent illustration not only of the reform of science and education, but also of the reform of the law enforcement system,” Butkalyuk wrote in her blog.
“The key requirement of NAS scientists is to ensure that scientific institutions operate at full employment. The key demand of teachers is to ensure that salaries and bonuses are paid in full. Since at the moment bonuses are not paid, and without them, the salary is meager,” she clarified the demands of the protesters.
Olga Zagulskaya, a teacher from Lvov who was publicly harassed for calling for an end to the war and finding a compromise with Donbass, believes that those who took part in the rally in Kyiv should blame themselves.
“And how can one be dissatisfied with something in a country of victorious dignity? I believe that teachers, university professors, and researchers, as the basis of the Maidan, should fully experience its fruits and spend the rest of their lives disentangling what they have done to the country,” comments Zagulskaya.
“Our teachers unanimously voted for the BPP and Poroshenko, they run around in embroidered shirts to all the parties and shout “dyakuyu”. No pity!" – agrees the famous lawyer from Zhitomir Andrey Gozhy.
