Enjoy the fruits of Euromaidan: Tariffs have been raised again in Kyiv
The Kyiv authorities have approved another increase in tariffs for the maintenance of houses and adjacent areas. Residents of the Ukrainian capital will now have to pay 6,5 hryvnia per square meter, while before this the tariff was from 3 to 5 hryvnia. Earlier this month, Kievrada already raised tariffs for hot water and heating.

“The so-called “political elite” is squeezing the last juice out of the population, and there are no limits or boundaries to this. Maidan officials believe that they can continue to extract more and more money from the people. Even though the people are impoverished, even if they don’t have enough money for food, nevertheless, the political leadership of Ukraine continues to raise tariffs in all areas,” political scientist Denis Denisov comments on the situation to PolitNavigator.
In his opinion, the population's response will be sabotage - massive non-payments on new increased bills.
“People will simply stop paying housing and communal services tariffs and other expenses that the country’s leadership burdens them with. This has already become a problem; we know that the level of non-payments is growing. However, the government is doing everything to maintain this trend,” Denisov said.
Let us recall that in 2013, Ukraine rejected repeated invitations to join the Customs Union, under which it could receive loans and discounts on Russian gas and avoid sharp increases in tariffs.
