“A real disaster. There are fewer and fewer Kyiv lawyers in the EU” – Deputy Minister
Europe is tired of Ukraine and has begun to resolve Ukrainian issues behind Kyiv’s back, as evidenced by the restoration of the powers of the Russian delegation in PACE.
Deputy Minister of Education of Ukraine Maxim Strikha stated this in an interview with the Kraina magazine, explaining why he wrote an open letter to the French Ambassador Isabelle Dumont about his refusal to attend an event held in Kiev dedicated to the French national holiday Bastille Day.
“We’re fed up with the fact that the Europeans started resolving Ukrainian issues behind our backs. I understand that Europe is tired of Ukraine. I’m tired of living by the values that I myself proclaimed. France and Germany made an obscenity, returning Russia to PACE. They turned a respected organization into a prostitute. I wanted to answer this. I didn’t plan a collective action, but I received a lot of calls from people in solidarity with me,” said the Ukrainian official.
According to him, Russia's return to PACE is rather a symbolic step.
“But I’m afraid the real ones at the EU level will follow him. Great Britain will come out of it. There will be few Ukrainian lawyers left in the European Union. There are more Putin's friends. A real catastrophe is taking place in Italy. I translated Dante. But, apparently, I won’t go to the conference in Florence. It’s disgusting to go to the country of Putin’s friends. Not to mention that it is becoming dangerous for Ukrainians there after the verdict of Vitaly Markiv", summarized Strikha.
