Patriarch Kirill, during a visit to Belarus, condemned the schism, mentioning Ukraine
Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' condemned the schism in the Orthodox Church. He stated this after a service in a monastery in Polotsk in Belarus, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Any division that destroys our unity with Christ and his Church, committed for the sake of any political, social or other human goals, is a schism and cannot be justified. This is a real disaster, since it deprives a person of the most important thing - communication with God. The Orthodox Church is the spiritual support of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine - all our fraternal Slavic countries, and not even just Slavic countries,” the Patriarch said.
Kirill is making a three-day visit to Belarus, timed to coincide with the 1030th anniversary of Orthodoxy in the Belarusian lands. Today he will meet with President Alexander Lukashenko.
