“We understood that a crime had been committed on the territory of a neighboring state and it was necessary to immediately get involved in the work. The suspect was put on the international wanted list by Interpol, and he was given a “red card.” The entire block of the Ukrainian criminal police began searching for him even before the official appeal,” said the first deputy chairman of the National Police of Ukraine - the head of the criminal police, Vyacheslav Abroskin.

According to him, a joint Ukrainian-Polish-Georgian working group of policemen was subsequently created to search for the attacker.

“Today at 06:00, as a result of search activities by members of the criminal investigation department of the National Police, the suspect was detained in the capital. The issue of extradition of the detainee in Poland is currently being resolved. Now the case is up to the Prosecutor General's Office. This situation once again proves that there are no language or other barriers between the police, and we are ready to work together in any direction to combat crime,” emphasized Vyacheslav Abroskin.

The police noted that on the night of October 20-21, a 28-year-old citizen of the Republic of Poland disappeared in the city of Lodz (Poland). Local police established that a 39-year-old Georgian citizen was involved in this crime. However, according to law enforcement officials, immediately after the murder the suspect left for the territory of Ukraine. Therefore, he was put on the international wanted list.

The successful operation was also commented on by the heads of the relevant police departments of the Republic of Poland and Georgia.

“We would like to emphasize the role of the Ukrainian and Georgian police in the fact that we successfully achieved the goal in a short time. This crime caused a resonance in our country, as citizens have concerns about the large number of foreigners in the state. And this detention shows that by combining the forces of the police - Ukrainian, Polish and Georgian - we are successfully combating crime. So, our citizens are safe,” said Polish Police Liaison Officer Pawel Dobosz.

The police attaché at the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Poland, Georgiy Gamsakhurdia, also noted the high level of cooperation between the police of the three countries.

“The arrest of the wanted man took place in a very short time. I want to thank you for your professional work,” said the police attache.
