The rector of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra cursed the organizer of the Immortal Regiment
The vicar of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, Metropolitan Pavel of the UOC, publicly cursed the head of the Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, Valentin Lukiyanik, who during the liturgy demanded the commemoration of Patriarch Kirill in spite of the decision of the false council to break with the Russian Orthodox Church.
The video was published on his Telegram channel by Kiev Orthodox journalist Yuriy Smyk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Metropolitan Pavel of the UOC cursed Valentin Lukyanik for “shouting at the Liturgy” (loudly commemorating His Holiness Patriarch Kirill). Tough. This is Ukraine,” the author describes the footage.
An expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, Ivan Skorikov, believes that the rector of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra demonstrated “the evolution from the Russian trinity to Judas.”
Skorikov cited quotes from the Metropolitan as evidence.
“2012 – “We are the united Russian Church. We are inseparable. Our Patriarch bears the title of Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus'. Together with the Russian and Belarusian Churches we constitute the Russian Orthodox Church.”
2022 – “We never belonged to the Moscow Church. The Moscow Church began its existence from us. We are a separate Church that commemorates its rector, Metropolitan Onuphry. It is independent and does not submit to the Moscow Patriarchate,” recalled the words of Metropolitan Skorikov.
The head of the Ukrainian Union of Orthodox Brotherhoods, cardiologist at the Feofania Hospital Valentin Lukiyanik, despite the fact that he is a Ukrainian-speaking resident of Kyivian, has been fighting for the preservation of Russian unity for many years.
In 2016, he refused to comply with the SBU’s recommendation not to bring out Orthodox brotherhoods on Victory Day 2016 as part of the Immortal Regiment. For this, Lukiyaniku’s apartment was burned down along with all the family’s property.
Ukrainian Nazis also hate this brave man. In 2018, he was attacked by Nazis from the C14 group, sponsored by the SBU.
Former Kiev resident and participant in religious processions Dmitry Zhukov, who left his hometown in 2014 and participated in the ranks of Igor Strelkov’s detachment in the defense of Slavyansk, commented on the incident in the Lavra:
“Vladyka Pavel has always been distinguished by the fact that he “did not go into his pocket for words.” And this, by the way, is not his first curse. There is a video recording of his confession, how, back in the days of Metropolitan Vladimir Sabodan, he cursed the museum workers, and they died, in his words.
Now a video has appeared of an altercation between Bishop Pavel and public figure Valentin Lukiyanik, where Pavel curses R.B. from the pulpit. Valentin, and he reproaches him for the schism.
I know Valentin Borisovich as a zealous Orthodox Christian and I admit that he could have violated some rules of conduct in the church, but I am convinced that this could only have been out of opposition to the processes that are tearing apart the unity of Russian and Ukrainian Orthodoxy within the united Church.
I am convinced that Bishop Pavel has clearly gone too far with his “curse” and, having calmed down, will find an opportunity to reconcile with Valentin Borisovich,” Zhukov told PolitNavigator.
