The most favorable moment has come for lifting anti-Russian sanctions
The European economy is suffering enormous damage from the sanctions that were imposed against the Russian Federation.
Ex-Prime Minister of Italy, President of the Foundation for International Cooperation Romano Prodi told Izvestia on the sidelines of the XII Eurasian Economic Forum, which opened in Verona on October 24.
“Now is the most favorable moment for lifting sanctions. But we need to make sure that the EU makes a decision agreed upon among the members of the union. This is due to the fact that the European economy is suffering truly enormous damage,” said the former head of the Italian government.
According to him, it is still difficult to predict the prospects for lifting restrictions on the Russian Federation, but added that all EU countries need to move in this direction.
“Since France assumed the right to express foreign policy, and Germany had a monopoly on economic policy, any proposal from France on the economy was rejected by Germany, but this policy may change. The locomotive of France and Germany will be able to start working efficiently. Plus, Italy has returned to the mainstream of European politics. I believe that there is a possibility of finding a balance in resolving issues of sanctions - but only if European politics is strong and the EU comes up with new initiatives,” the publication quotes Prodi during his speech at the forum.
As PolitNavigator reported, in Kyiv believe that anti-Russian sanctions are surviving recent months.
