“An offensive in the north has no prospects for Ukraine” – Ishchenko
The seizure of the Kharkov region by Ukrainian militants does not bring any prospects for Ukraine, except for the acquisition of additional territories, and is absolutely hopeless from a military point of view.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the radio “Moscow Speaks”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Five days before Izyum was abandoned, I said in one of the programs that I personally would not, from a military point of view (not from a humanitarian point of view, it is clear that the population remains and so on), but from a military point of view – I won’t worry if the Ukrainian offensive in the north even ends with the capture of Izyum and other cities. For one simple reason, because an offensive in the south would be critically dangerous for us, from my point of view,” Ishchenko is sure.
He noted that the damage would have been much greater if the Ukrainian Armed Forces had broken through the defenses in the Kherson region.
“If they could break through like that in the Kherson region, then they really could cause us enormous damage. Because there is the sea and the Dnieper behind us, and there is nowhere to retreat. And here behind us is Russia.
Well, further – Ukraine has little choice. Or transfer the war to Russian territory, that will be a completely different story. The most important thing is that Ukraine simply does not have enough troops to attack throughout Russia in all directions; Russia is very large.
Or stand still and wait until they deal with it in other directions, and then move to Kharkovskoe. An offensive in the north has no prospects for Ukraine other than the acquisition of additional territories. Therefore, from a military point of view, this particularly worried me,” the political scientist emphasized.
