The attack on Ukraine will begin from Tiraspol - SBU general
Transnistria and Belarus could allegedly become springboards for a Russian attack on Ukraine.
Ukrainian military experts stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, the former deputy head of the SBU, Major General Viktor Yagun, noted that the military airfield in Tiraspol, recently restored at Russia’s expense, poses a particular danger.
“There is a very big danger because this contingent that is there - one and a half thousand people - is not very dangerous, but the infrastructure that they protect is dangerous. In particular, a military airfield restored in 14, which is capable of receiving large, powerful aircraft on its territory. This is a springboard for a hypothetical attack towards the south of Ukraine. This is the biggest danger,” Yagun said.
In turn, military expert Valentin Badrak emphasized that the danger to Ukraine comes not only from the south and east.
“We must take into account that Russian intelligence services have always had global ambitions and inherited these ambitions from the USSR. It is very important for us to understand that we have more than one front line, which lies in Donbass. There are several of them – both Belarus and Moldova,” Badrak said.
