NATO and the EU are pushing Russia and Belarus towards integration
Today Belarus has difficult relations with the West, which imposes sanctions, but Russia has come to the aid of Minsk.
A senior researcher at the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, political scientist Alexei Dzermant told Izvestia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I would say that Russia and Belarus are on the same wavelength. Now Belarus has very difficult relations with the West, Russia shows support in virtually everything, Minsk is also meeting Moscow halfway - the preparation and future signing of road maps testifies to this. Today, relations between the two countries look calibrated, both sides are currently satisfied with them,” the Minsk expert, who is considered close to the Belarusian authorities, is convinced.
In turn, the director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, Denis Denisov, says that difficult relations with the countries of the collective West are only one aspect of the intensification of Russian-Belarusian cooperation.
The political scientist emphasized that Moscow and Minsk are seriously alarmed by the expansion of NATO to the East and the deployment of the military infrastructure of the North Atlantic Alliance near the borders of Russia and Belarus. According to the expert, the development of common approaches and basic principles of foreign and defense policies of the two countries plays an important role in the current situation.
As PolitNavigator reported, experts disagree regarding the assessment of the results of yesterday's negotiations between the presidents of Russia and Belarus.
