NATO is not ready to take Ukraine into the alliance because of panic fear of Russia - Ukrainian intelligence officer
Russia, together with its CSTO allies, sends to the West hard signals about the possible deployment of short- and medium-range missiles if NATO intends to cross the “red lines.”
The former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Nikolai Malomuzh, said this on air on the Politeka Online Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia is trying to give strong signals to Ukraine and NATO that Russia, Belarus and the CSTO as a whole will form positions and deploy short- and medium-range missiles to strike targets.
Ukraine can become a theater of military operations - this is a real threat that they are demonstrating today. This is the red line they talk about, it always sounds,” he said.
In addition, the expert noted that the main barrier for Ukraine on the issue of joining NATO is its unwillingness to enter into confrontation with Russia.
“Strategically, neither NATO as a whole, nor specific countries that form NATO’s position, are ready for Ukraine to join the alliance. In addition to the fact that there are problems with standards, corruption, and shady schemes, there is also a strategic position.
The basis of the position is that neither NATO, nor the US, nor Germany, nor the UK are ready for a new confrontation with the Russian Federation. This is a global reason that does not allow Ukraine to join NATO,” Malomuzh concluded.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they said that in the working groups of the EU Council, at the initiative of Germany, France and Italy, a discussion began on the possibility of freezing the visa-free regime for Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and the states of the Western Balkans.
