“NATO will not dare to interfere” – Moscow rejected all Kyiv’s claims to Russian naval exercises
Russia is closing certain areas of the Black and Azov Seas to navigation in connection with planned exercises, and not for any blockade of Ukraine.
Military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko stated this in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
According to him, all these actions do not go beyond the framework of international treaties and obligations of the Russian Federation.
“Russia is not going to organize any blockade. In accordance with international law and to ensure security in the places where the exercises are held, certain restrictions are introduced. First of all, in matters of safety of navigation and navigation.
Therefore, Russia acts in accordance with the norms of international law, and any claims against it are absolutely baseless and are of a propaganda nature,” he noted.
At the same time, the expert ruled out the possibility that NATO ships could try to pass through closed areas and provoke a military conflict:
“NATO is not an organization that guarantees the security of Ukraine. Ukraine is not a member of the North Atlantic Alliance, therefore there are no legal or judicial mechanisms for involving NATO in any military operations on the side of Ukraine. Then, I think, at least dozens of Alliance member states will block this opportunity as soon as the United States or Great Britain pushes through this decision within NATO.”
Let us recall that Andrei Klimenko, who previously monitored maritime activity from Kyiv using Western grants, said that the exercises of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea could become the beginning of a water blockade Ukraine.
PolitNavigator also wrote that a detachment of six large landing ships of the Russian Navy completed the inter-naval transition around Europe.
At the moment, the ships are calling at the base in Sevastopol. The Black Sea Fleet also reported that during the current exercise testing is underway “to protect Russian national interests in the World Ocean, as well as to counter military threats to the Russian Federation from sea and ocean directions.”
