NATO refused to develop technology for detecting suicide bombers together with Russia
Because of the conflict in Crimea and Donbass, NATO abandoned the development of a unique technology for remote detection of suicide bombers. Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev spoke about this at a lecture at the Tavrida educational forum in Crimea.

“Before the conflict in Crimea and South-East Ukraine, Russia and NATO were at a very advanced stage of creating a unique, unparalleled technology for remotely detecting explosives on the body of a potential suicide bomber. Without letting a person through the frame. This would change the picture of security in the world,” Kosachev said.
He explained that neither NATO nor the United States can complete the development alone. “NATO has some of this technology, and Russia has some of it. We cannot create this technology without each other. Russia and NATO have worked very well together for a number of years to bring this technology to practical use. But after March 2014, NATO froze security cooperation with Russia in all areas. This project is also going under the knife. It’s collapsed, it doesn’t exist,” Kosachev said.
According to him, NATO experts admit that if work on the project had not been interrupted, it would have already been implemented this year. “And many terrible terrorist acts would not have happened. NATO members are trying to provide privileged security for themselves and leaving us all behind,” Kosachev said.
