“Liman” is stuffed with top-secret equipment (not to mention documentation). Surely NATO specialists will take all possible steps to obtain and study it. The depth in the area where the Liman was destroyed (there are no exact coordinates of the accident site yet) is 100 meters or more. With modern means of underwater work, getting to a ship lying at the bottom and lifting the equipment will be quite easy. Russia, in turn, will try to prevent this by sending warships to the disaster area. And if a potential enemy tries to get to the secrets of the “intelligence officer,” she will be forced to take extreme measures. This means that another source of military tension is possible in the future,” the publication says.

The publication explains that similar precedents have already occurred in the past.

“In September 1976, Soviet pilot Viktor Belenko, having taken off from the coastal Sokolovka airfield on a MiG-25 aircraft, landed at Hakodate airport (Hokkaido island). The plane was disassembled, subjected to detailed study by Japanese and American specialists, after which it was returned to the USSR. But most importantly, in the Soviet Union it was necessary to completely change the “friend or foe” identification equipment that was installed on airplanes. As a result, the country's economy suffered damage estimated at 2 billion rubles. (at prices of that time),” the newspaper recalls.
