NATO is already in Donbass

NATO military specialists have been present in Donbass for a long time, assisting the Ukrainian side in carrying out a punitive operation. Daniil Bezsonov, a representative of the press service of the DPR Ministry of Defense, told PolitNavigator about this.

“The presence of Western mercenaries has been recorded since 2014, since the defense of Slavyansk. There are mercenary fighters here, Western instructors - in principle, this is no longer a secret to anyone. There is also video evidence of this - back in winter or March, a video appeared on the Internet where a foreign English-speaking mercenary with a French accent was training Ukrainian military personnel on how to storm a school. Everyone can watch this video, it is on the Internet. Moreover, most likely, this foreign instructor is a Canadian citizen.

We also know that the Western side supplies weapons to Ukraine, although initially Soviet-style weapons were supplied here from Europe - from the former Warsaw Pact countries. There were weapons left in both Bulgaria and Poland.

First, all such weapons were brought to the Donbass for the war with us, and after that, Western NATO models. But it is impossible to say that Western small arms are often and universally used, because, objectively, the Kalashnikov assault rifles, which both our and the Ukrainian sides use, are much better than the American M-16s in terms of practicality and use in field conditions.

As for other weapons: drones, mortars, grenade launchers - all this was also recorded. The West is closely helping the Ukrainian side in this. Recently there was a case where Ukrainian military personnel sold two American drones to our military personnel. This has happened before, but now it was captured on video.

How much will Western weapons help the Ukrainian side fight? My opinion is that not much. Some kind of counter-battery systems, radio interception systems - this, of course, helps them. But this will not be able to seriously influence the course of events. As we stood, we will continue to stand, as we defeated them, so we will defeat them.

Regarding the reasons for Western specialists being here... There are several categories that can be distinguished. The first category is professional military personnel who were sent to the other side on a business trip to train Ukrainian militants. These are the instructors.

The second category is directly militants, foreign mercenaries of various private military companies who take part in hostilities on the territory of Donbass for money.

And the third category is foreign volunteers, the same as we have here, who came and simply receive Ukrainian salaries. Apparently, they were not hired by PMCs, and the Ukrainian salary is hardly enough. As the practice of this war shows, their task is looting, robbery, etc.

NATO's local presence can be confirmed. Here are their military personnel, career officers, instructors, equipment, weapons - the secret presence of all this is here. But in a global sense, it is not yet possible to say that NATO has entered Ukraine on a large scale. But we know that NATO has brought a lot of heavy equipment to the Ukrainian borders, that is, they are, as it were, preparing for this,” our interlocutor commented.
