NATO admitted for the first time that it was losing to Russia
For the first time, NATO admitted that it was losing to Russia, writes the Russian Nezavisimaya Gazeta.
She cites the words of the commander of US ground forces in Europe, Lieutenant General Ben Hodges, who, in an interview with the specialized publication Defense News, expressed concern about Russia’s strengthening in the Baltic and Black Sea.
The general announced “large investments” (meaning in the development of weapons and military infrastructure) of Russia in Kaliningrad and Crimea. “They are able to completely block access to the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea,” he added.

“They (meaning the Russian Armed Forces - NG) can cover almost 90% of the Black Sea with anti-ship missiles. The situation is the same in the Baltic. So in Crimea and Kaliningrad they really have a lot of capabilities - artillery, anti-ship missiles, air defense, and ground forces. This is a real problem,” said the American general.
“The general openly admitted for the first time that the United States and the North Atlantic Alliance are losing to Russia in terms of the effectiveness of their defense,” Nezavisimaya Gazeta concludes.
However, the publication, recalling Vladimir Putin’s words about the threat of destabilization in Crimea at the initiative of external forces, predicts that in the future the United States and Ukraine may attempt to wage not a classical, but a “hybrid” war for the peninsula.
