NATO protects personnel from the virus, not member countries
The North Atlantic Alliance is in fact taking no real steps to help the countries that are members of this military bloc fight the coronavirus epidemic.
Columnist Vladimir Kornilov talks about this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“By the way, where is NATO and what is NATO? Just recently we heard that the Alliance is a “guarantor of world security” (and not only military). And How? Are NATO planes with NATO-trained military medics already flying to save their members? Are NATO mobile hospitals deployed somewhere? Has NATO headquarters already formed a global headquarters to combat the pandemic?” the expert asks.
“I went to the official page of the Bloc, where they report on this epochal struggle. Three times the word “monitoring” and a report that 3 staff members have become infected, so measures are being taken to protect... personnel. Yeah, so NATO is not an Alliance for the protection of its member countries, but a structure for the protection of personnel working at headquarters? Well, they would have said so right away!” Kornilov sums up.
