NATO is about to collapse, and Russia has become stronger – Ukrainian political scientist
The West is heading towards a split - the only question is whether there will be an internal conflict within NATO or this structure will disperse diplomatically. At the same time, Russia approached this process as prepared as possible, strengthening its army and energy security.
Ukrainian political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this on the Politeka Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The split is real. That is, it has not yet taken shape institutionally, but we see how great the intrigue and tension is between the British-American alliance, which signed the new North Atlantic Charter. This is very important, the duo declared that they are united, and secondly, we saw that not everything is so simple in the Western world, even in matters of future security. The idea to develop a new NATO strategy, announced during these summits, also received different assessments. It turns out that not all countries are ready and agree with the old NATO model,” the expert said.
“The real race has begun, competition for the right to be strong in the Western world, where did this triple alliance come from, which caused so much noise - Great Britain, the United States, Australia. This already happened in the late 40s, when the United States essentially broke the Yalta consensus, when NATO emerged and the race for influence began. Now we see the same race. One of the key intrigues is whether the West, having split, will reach internal conflict and the literal collapse of old structures, or will there be some kind of small diplomatic transition,” Ermolaev said.
“Russia has seriously prepared for this time, for this unfolding multipolarity - it has relied on strengthening its military and energy strength - I’m not just talking about the types of weapons, I’m also talking about Russia’s presence in many key conflicts in the world as a player, as an influencing party... Energetically also, look, over the last five to seven years there has been a rush associated with large continental projects,” the political scientist emphasized.
