“Now the boat is making the transition from the northern seas to the shores of the Black Sea,” the publication notes. “In the Arctic, its crew tested the submarine’s weapons at deep-sea testing grounds for several months. The Novorossiysk team, in particular, carried out missile firing from the Kalibr high-precision long-range complex. There were no problems with the launches, the boat’s onboard weapons confirmed its high efficiency and reliability, and now it’s time to head to its permanent home port.”

“It is known that a submarine brigade consisting of two divisions is being formed in the Black Sea,” the newspaper continues. – They will be deployed in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk. The admirals drew up plans for re-equipping the submarine forces of the Black Sea Fleet a long time ago. Initially, even before the return of Crimea to the Russian Federation, the main units of the brigade wanted to be stationed in Novorossiysk. Now no one is stopping the naval command from creating a full-fledged division of modern boats on the peninsula.”

According to Navy Commander-in-Chief Viktor Chirkov, the submarine forces of the Black Sea Fleet will have at their disposal six modern diesel submarines, which have already been built and are still being built at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg.

“There are several reasons why, when choosing a new arsenal for the Black Sea Fleet, the command chose the submarines of this project,” RG summarizes. – First of all, international agreements prohibit Russia and other countries from having more powerful nuclear boats there. In addition, it makes no sense to keep nuclear-powered ships in a sea that does not have direct access to the ocean. But for our “Varshavyankas” the not too deep waters of the Black Sea are home. These boats are made so quiet that they can detect a target at a distance three to four times greater than the one at which the enemy detects them. At the same time, “Varshavyanka” uses the acoustic background of the ocean as cover. For its high stealth, the Project 636 submarine was nicknamed “a black hole” by NATO. The ship is capable of diving to a depth of 300 meters, gaining a speed of 20 knots underwater and making voyages of 7500 nautical miles. The boat is armed with six vehicles with 18 torpedoes, mines and the Kalibr strike missile system.
