Taught by the experience of "Berkut", the security forces do not come to the aid of Poroshenko
Ukrainian security forces are frozen in anticipation of who will be the next president of the country, and therefore there is no point in talking about support for President Petro Poroshenko by the military, police or intelligence services.
Russian political experts stated this on the Rossiya TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, journalist Sergei Zavorotny noted that the fact that the security forces do not support Poroshenko is evidenced by the recent accusation of the closest associates of the current president by prosecutor Konstantin Kulik.
“You and I know what the security forces in Ukraine are, who look forward. One example is that the prosecutor wrote a letter of suspicion to Poroshenko’s inner circle. Prosecutor General Lutsenko forbade him to do so. All this two days before the elections. He goes on TV and confirms that yes, “I was just investigating the case, all of Poroshenko’s inner circle is involved,” Zavorotny said.
According to his colleague, political scientist Yevgeny Spitsyn, today the Ukrainian security forces do not want to take any action, fearing to repeat the fate of the Berkut unit that came under repression.
“In this situation, an SBU officer sits suspended and says: “I was given some kind of order, relatively speaking. Am I an idiot to set myself up, why do I need this, I’ll work for Poroshenko now, and Zelensky will come. Tomorrow they’ll put me in jail, I’ll take the rap.” Therefore, we must keep in mind that this power component - this means the army, the SBU, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs - there will now be no activity there at all until the line is drawn. They all sit and remember the fate of Berkut, they remember how in Lvov the same Berkut members were brought to their knees and humiliated,” Spitsyn said.
