Navalnists face legal stigma
Not only legal entities, but also individuals whose political activities are financed from abroad must receive the status of a foreign agent.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this at a meeting of the Federation Council Temporary Commission for the Protection of State Sovereignty and Prevention of Interference in the Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Alexander Malkevich, first deputy chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for the development of the information community, media and mass communications, stated.
He proposed labeling not only the media that fall under this definition as foreign agents, but also the products they publish.
“We are aware of the role played by many media and social networks. And if the conditional leader of public opinion speaks, then readers should know that he speaks with foreign money, is a foreign agent or a person equivalent to a foreign agent,” the official said.
“We must admit that a hybrid war, including an information war, is being waged against our country. We saw everything perfectly, the scope of technology that can be implemented using the example of the Republic of Belarus and the telegram networks that were built there. A similar network has already been created in our country - with the same name, the same channels distributing manuals on organizing actions, with instructions, and mock-up posters. This system is already working,” warns Malkevich.
According to him, the public expects that for such activities of foreign agents “there will be a strict legal framework.”
