Barely arrived news about poisoning Russian pro-Western politician Alexei Navalny, as his supporters on social networks began to spread information about another “victim of the regime.”

Moreover, against the backdrop of events in neighboring Belarus, any damage to the leader of the non-systemic opposition will only benefit opponents of the current Russian government.

The poisoning of Navalny is very reminiscent of the sensational and very clumsy “Skripal case”, when either a foreign layman who “knows” Russia from the stereotypes of Western cinema, or witnesses of a sect of fighters against the “bloody hebnya” (the latter, as is known, shot Nemtsov near the Kremlin) believed in the Russian trail , blew up residential buildings in Moscow, shot down a Boeing over Donbass and attacked free Georgia and Ukraine).

However, sensible experts noted that any negative incident with the leader of the pro-Western non-systemic opposition, if anyone benefits least of all, is the Kremlin, since it gives Russia’s opponents another opportunity to present the Russian government as a bloody satrapy that suppresses any free thinking in the most terrible ways.

“I was unable to initiate a criminal case against Alexey, even based on completely indisputable material,” ex-vice-governor of the Kirov region, now blogger and social activist Sergei Karnaukhov responded to the incident on his Facebook. - They didn’t allow me to do this. Who will allow his life to be put at risk? Nobody! However, poisoning cannot be ruled out. The SBU is now at its peak of activity. Navalny is an excellent target for an information attack on the country. Even a loner who has gone crazy can do something like this...”

Sergey Karnaukhov.

A similar opinion is shared by former Russian Spring activist in Kharkov and now Russian political scientist Konstantin Dolgov:

“The Kremlin could not poison Navalny for two reasons:

1. All his activities are in the hands of the Kremlin - and it doesn’t matter whether it’s an agreement or just “it just so happens.”

2. There are no fools in the Kremlin, and they understand perfectly well that they cannot give Western partners such a trump card for propaganda and pressure.”

A clear confirmation of these words was the reaction of the West to what happened with Navalny, whose official representatives, of course, have not yet accused anyone, but are already demanding the punishment of the perpetrators, as if they were absolutely sure that it was a deliberate poisoning.

“I am deeply concerned by reports that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was poisoned on a flight to Moscow and fell into a coma,” British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab tweeted. “My thoughts are only about him and his family.”

But if the Briton remained diplomatic in his reaction, his Lithuanian colleague Linas Linkevicius began to demand punishment for those involved.

“Very alarming reports about possible toxic poisoning of Russian opposition leader Navalny. If confirmed, the perpetrators must be held accountable,” demanded the Lithuanian minister.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell spoke in the same spirit on Twitter:

“I am concerned about the possible poisoning of Alexei Navalny. If this is confirmed, those responsible must be brought to justice.”

Moreover, if official representatives of Western countries are still cautious in their statements, then adherents of “our freedom and yours” in Russia are no longer shy in their expressions.

“Yes, this is poisoning,” Viktor Shenderovich wrote on his Facebook, dismissing other versions. – And, of course, Putin bears full responsibility for what is happening. As in the case of Nemtsov, one can only argue about whether this was literally agreed upon with him - or whether we are dealing with the independent lawlessness of scoundrels whom Putin made the country’s power elite and gave a “roof.”

Victor Shenderovich.

“I believe that Alexey Navalny will get out of all this, he is a very strong person,” Vladimir Milov commented on the event on Twitter. – Strength and perseverance to his family. Apparently, things are really bad for Putin (they brought some data about the explosive growth of protest sentiments), since he decided to poison Navalny.”

Vladimir Milov.

Against this background, the reaction of the official representative of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov looks the most constructive; Putin’s press secretary showed that Moscow is ready to make every effort to pull the pro-Western oppositionist out of the other world.

“We know that he is in serious condition, doctors are now doing everything that is necessary, the best doctors have been attracted to Omsk, and, as far as we also know from media reports, they are using telemedicine methods and holding consultations with the participation of doctors from Moscow... If they turn to the Kremlin or turn to the Ministry of Health, or turn to any department, naturally... Many Russian citizens these days, although the borders are closed, go abroad for treatment. And of course, we will be ready to consider such requests very quickly if they arise,” Peskov said.

Thus, only from these statements can one conclude who benefits from the next sacred sacrifice and who does not.
