Navalny is allowed to mock Russian courts even from prison
Today, the Babushinsky District Court upheld the verdict in the case of defamation of a Great Patriotic War veteran by Alexei Navalny.
Insulted, Ignat Artemenko refused to participate in the trial, but the criminal blogger himself was present via video link and took full advantage of the opportunity to promote himself and mock Russian justice.
Before the start of the meeting, he told pitiful stories about how he had lost weight to 72 kg (with a height of 190 cm), about how he was coming out of a hunger strike, eating several spoons of porridge and dreaming of apples. There were a lot of tear-jerking details.
This time, the blogger’s wife was present in the hall, who had previously gone to Germany during the days when Navalny was being tried. The couple acted out a touching scene of love, after which Julia buried her face in her phone. Then she left without waiting for a decision.
When the judge entered, Navalny began to direct the process and ordered that he not be interrupted. The comparison between a veteran and a doll was again made. He did not forget to once again insult the judge who made the first decision. The blogger said that she was found “through an advertisement on the market.”
Fortunately, the farce of the appeal was short-lived. Therefore, Navalny squeezed every possible PR effect out of his last word.
“I want to say, my dear court, that your king is naked. And millions of people are already screaming about it, because it’s completely obvious,” the criminal blogger began.
Then he spoke about the disastrous economic situation of Russia, corruption and degradation of the system.
“And you are all traitors and occupiers. You are implementing the plan that is written about in history books. You are turning Russians into slaves who will be deprived of any prospects. And you implemented this plan. Our population is declining by the millions,” Navalny said.
The judge tried to interrupt the pretentious speech, the blogger shouted at her in response, but then it turned out that he was still restraining himself.
“I, Your Honor, am kind to you, despite the fact that I consider you a traitor. And your occupation power is quite successful,” Navalny said.
He defiantly did not stand up either when the judge appeared or when the verdict was read.
While the trial was ongoing, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a new criminal case against Navalny, as well as Ivan Zhdanov and Leonid Volkov, for the creation of an NGO that infringes on the personality and rights of citizens. It’s scary to think that another process awaits us, which will be turned into a farce by three actors.
