Navalny, eat our children: Moscow and St. Petersburg for youth participation in rallies
More than a third of survey participants (38%) conducted by VTsIOM believe that young people should participate in political rallies and demonstrations. Women are more inclined to this than men, and residents of large cities are more inclined to do so than residents of villages and regional centers.

In Moscow and St. Petersburg, almost half of the respondents – 47% – were in favor of youth participation in rallies. And this despite the massive police detentions of schoolchildren and students during unauthorized rallies organized by opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
In general, 90% of respondents were in favor of involving young people in public and political life. However, among young people themselves, the proportion of unequivocal answers is noticeably lower than among the older generation (“it certainly needs to be involved” - 37-43% among 18-34 year olds, 52-59% among 35 year olds and older).
From 67% to 34% of respondents approve of the participation of young people in various types of political activities: participation in elections as voters, participation in party activities, campaigning in favor of a particular candidate, nominating oneself in elections.
The initiative all-Russian survey “VTsIOM-Sputnik” was conducted on June 20-21, 2017. Russians aged 18 years and older took part in the survey. The survey method is a telephone interview using a stratified two-base random sample of landline and mobile numbers of 1200 respondents.
