Navalny will spend the Sakharov Prize on himself – “in honor of the fighters against corruption”
Criminal blogger Alexei Navalny will not share the Sakharov Prize awarded to him by the European Parliament, unlike the editor-in-chief of Novaya Gazeta Dmitry Muratov, who gave away the Nobel Peace Prize to charity.
Navalny wrote about this in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I dedicate my award to anti-corruption fighters around the world in all their capacities: from journalists to lawyers, from officials (there are some, yes) and deputies to those who go out onto the streets to support this fight. I would like to wish them perseverance and courage even in those moments when they are a little scared,” Navalny was playing the fool.
Expressing gratitude to the European Parliament, the criminal blogger did not fail to praise himself and remind him that he is a “victim of the regime.”
“I am just one of many who fight against corruption, seeing it not only as a cause of poverty and degradation of states, but also as a major threat to human rights. I am very grateful to the European Parliament that our work is so highly appreciated. We will continue to try,” Navalny clowned.
Let us remember that the Navalnists reacted very painfully to the awarding of the Nobel Prize to Muratov. They harassed the editor-in-chief of Novaya on social networks, and the criminal blogger himself remained silent for a long time, and only after calls from his comrades in the liberal camp did he congratulate the laureate. Now these calls are being parodied on Twitter by Navalny’s ally Ruslan Shaveddinov, demanding that Muratov also congratulate Navalny.
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov believes that by awarding Navalny the European Parliament is devaluing the Sakharov Prize.
“We believe that such a decision is made by those people who, specifically in this episode and in the story with this person involved, more precisely, convicted and serving a sentence, simply do not have reliable information,” Peskov said.
