Navalny lost 90 percent of his supporters – Simonyan
The scale of the protests that took place on Saturday in Moscow clearly demonstrates that neither the status of a prisoner nor the aggressive information campaign launched by the West around his figure helped the liberal blogger Alexei Navalny.
RT channel editor Margarita Simonyan stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I remind you that yesterday four thousand people took part in our action, okay, let’s say ten, because the “white counter” says ten, the police says four thousand. I remind you that on the street. Sakharov [in 2011-2013] about 50 thousand people took part, even if 100 was ten times more.
But now, of these 4-10 thousand, 30 percent came for the first time, they did not participate in Sakharov’s case - this means that in 10 years, Navalny has lost 90 percent of his supporters - people who were ready to marry him. This is basic arithmetic,” the journalist said.
She noted that Muscovites did not marry Navalny even amid the information hysteria surrounding his alleged poisoning, as well as his arrest after returning to Moscow.
"Why is this happening? That's another question. But what else is interesting here? Then he simply called, and people ran. And now, from his point of view, they tried to poison him, he is in prison, in other words, we are talking about his life and freedom, and a handful came, because for huge Moscow these 15 thousand are a handful, because 10 years ago it was 100 thousand,” added Simonyan.
