Navalny returns to Russia not of his own free will - he was forced
Liberal blogger Alexei Navalny returns to Russia from Germany, where he received treatment after an alleged poisoning, not of his own free will.
This was reported by Russian political scientist Oleg Bondarenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On the eve of New Year, the Federal Penitentiary Service put Lyosha on the wanted list, but for now, only domestically. But very soon it could become international. Then the Merkel administration would again have to violate mutual obligations to extradite citizens put on the international wanted list to Russia. As in the case of the same Chechen militant killed in a Berlin park. And this, as you know, is fraught with replies.
But the funniest thing here is different - in the current situation, Navalny personally was unlikely to have a great desire to return to his homeland. Because he understands what awaits him. But here’s the thing: his Western patrons need him not in Europe free, but in Russia in prison. Only in this case will it be possible to make him a new “prisoner of conscience” and introduce new sanctions against Moscow (what else is left there, except Swift shutdown?). Therefore, his return, obviously, will be of a voluntary-compulsory nature,” Bondarenko wrote on Facebook.
He believes that the Russian authorities should avoid participating in the scenario imposed on them by the West.
“In this situation, the Russian authorities need to walk between the Scylla of compliance with the law (which he repeatedly violated while on probation) and the Charybdis of sacralization of the “victim of the bloody regime,” the scenario of which has already been written,” Bondarenko wrote.
At the same time, he expects that Navalny’s arrest at the airport will still take place. The political scientist notes that on the same day he should return to Moscow with his family from the New Year holidays.
“I found out here that on the same day Navalny is returning to the same airport with us, and both supporters and representatives of the authorities are waiting for him. And the latter are clearly not there to throw caps at him. We'd like to miss him at the airport. I don’t want to traumatize the baby’s psyche with a political mask show,” Bondarenko wrote.
