Navalny: I'm tired, but I'm not leaving yet
It seems important to give some summary of Navalny’s return to Russia. Brief. To understand and prioritize.
First of all, there was nothing heroic in this return - it turned out to be boring, vulgar and stupid. And those who tried to add pathos to it, diluting it with pathetic speeches from the series “here is my home, I’m not afraid”, looked like either paid characters, or characters who had emerged from somewhere from the dissident years of the last century. Only people were stronger back then. And the fighters against the authorities were definitely distinguished by much greater intelligence, determination and stature.
And then everything suddenly went wrong. Navalny’s wife Yulia said from the plane, sitting next to Alexei in the seats: “Boy, bring us some vodka, we’re flying home.” The woman forgot who the phrase belonged to, but Navalnaya is tipped to be her successor. A bit small. And Alexey behaved nervously.
The reaction to events, to details of return, to arrest is predictable. Americans and Europeans routinely burst into odes about the violation of freedoms and democracy. In general, of course, the hypocrisy of people is amazing. Destroy all manifestations of freedom in your homeland, and then teach it to others. This is only possible in the most deceitful of worlds.
Ukraine, by the way, in this sense has already become the West. Because from there thundered - and quite zealously - observations, critical and offensive, of course, regarding how shamelessly and harshly they treated Navalny. This, mind you, is coming from a country where nationalists oppress the civilian population, commit crimes - and do not bear any responsibility for it, but those who do not agree with fascist methods and slogans are thrown into prison. Oh well.
And now to the main thing. I carefully studied the video and photographs from the airport where Mr. Navalny was met. So, neither the Messiah, nor even the national leader is expected or greeted in this way. A local star - quite. But never a real hero. The point here is both in the number of people and in the way everything happened. Actually, Navalny’s arrival once again confirmed that his fame exists exclusively in virtual, but not in real space. It is popular and weighty where it is impossible to touch and feel, but can only be thought of and imagined. Navalny is a phantom in a world of phantoms, but that, unfortunately, is the zeitgeist. The world has shifted to the Internet and social networks.
And one more problem. Inflated figures can also gain weight. It depends on what you use to inflate them. And, unfortunately, this whole story with thirty days of arrest - first of all, the way it is framed - directly refers us to Nelson Mandela and generally shifts the emphasis somewhat. Already in favor of Navalny. In Russia, after all, they generally like to play around with those whom they consider profitable toys, but it also happens that they get out of control and gain independence. Then they bring trouble to everyone.
And this is something the country definitely doesn’t need. In principle, gentlemen in power, there is no point in reviving something that is dead, tired and boring. And so we already played the game with Alexey.
