Navalny closes FBK and begs for money
The non-system leader of pro-Western Russian liberals Alexei Navalny complained that bailiffs seized his account, as well as the account of his Anti-Corruption Fund (FBK). According to Yevgeny Prigozhin’s lawsuit, he owes 88 million rubles, and therefore is forced to close the organization.
The political adventurer reported this on his website and social networks.
“The team went to liquidate both FBK and our regional headquarters at any cost,” Navalny said. – We survived several raids. Hundreds of simultaneous searches throughout the country. And so several times in a row. Each time, everything was confiscated from us: from phones and laptops to lighting lamps and kettles. We were illegally recognized as foreign agents, even though we never received a penny of foreign money.
Criminal cases have been fabricated against us. The bank accounts of both FBK and all other legal entities were frozen. The accounts of hundreds of employees and their family members were frozen. My accounts were frozen - mine, my father's, my mother's, my wife's and even my children's. We were sued by the Russian Guard, the police, the prosecutor's office, the State Budgetary Institution "Automobile Roads", restaurants that were disrupted by our rallies, and even the Moscow metro. As a result, all independent deputies and FBK employees who called people to rallies ended up owing millions of rubles.”
At the same time, according to the oppositionist, the greatest damage was caused to him by Yevgeny Prigozhin, an entrepreneur whom the opposition attributes to Vladimir Putin’s close circle. FBK accused Prigozhin of supplying low-quality products to schools. In turn, the businessman filed a claim of 88 million rubles against Navalny, his assistant Lyubov Sobol and FBK, which the court satisfied, distributing it among the defendants in the case.
“The amount is huge, and I don’t even see the point of collecting it,” Navalny admitted. – Until the end of Putin’s power, we will have to live with blocked accounts and bailiffs confiscating any of our property in favor of the cook Putin (as in some circles they call Prigozhin, who, as a restaurateur, fed the top officials of the state - ed.).
Now the question is: what to do with FBK? We already have nothing. Everything was taken away during previous searches. And now they will take away both the organization itself and the current account. Our name is dear to us, but, as I have said many times: FBK is not an office or a piece of paper from the Ministry of Justice. FBK is people. These are the ones who come here to fight corruption, and you who support it. We will switch to another legal entity, and let Putin and Prigozhin choke on it. But we need to take with us the greatest value – you.”
How did Navalny plan to take away his most valuable asset, according to him? He also talked about this.
“Over the past year, 21 thousand 467 people made donations to us. And most importantly, our beauty is 7 thousand 607 people who are subscribed to monthly payments. That is, they registered them on our website and automatically write off 100 rubles, 500, and a thousand.
And we know: no matter what happens, we receive about 6 million rubles a month, and we will have enough for office rent, internet and at least part of our salaries. Now they will take away our current account, and these 7 thousand 607 subscriptions will disappear.
We cannot transfer them automatically. The only thing that can be done here is for you guys to follow the link yourself and make a regular payment again,” the liberal added.
