Navalny lied about his hunger strike and illness
The social networks of criminal blogger Alexei Navalny, who is serving a prison term for fraud, continue to be regularly updated. Now they have begun to resemble health bulletins.
Last week, Navalny said that his back hurts and his legs are paralyzed. He was not satisfied with the help of the prison doctor, and he went on a hunger strike, demanding the provision of highly qualified specialists.
The authorities responded to this by publishing a video from Navalny’s barracks. In it, the blogger confidently walks between the beds, drinking something from a mug, and scolds the warden.
The myth that the “opposition leader” systematically does not get enough sleep was also dispelled because the light is shining in his face every hour. The Federal Penitentiary Service provided night video footage of the cameras. It shows that Navalny does not react in any way to the approach of the warden, because he is fast asleep. Contrary to prison rules, he is allowed to use earplugs and an eye mask.
But just a few days passed and the online diagnoses changed dramatically. No one talks about problems with the spine anymore, but Navalny almost contracted tuberculosis.
“Yesterday: we watched reports on all TV channels that I was sitting in the best colony with ideal conditions and food, like in a restaurant. Today: the third person from my squad has recently been hospitalized with tuberculosis. There are 15 people in the detachment, that is, 20% of the number is sick, this is much higher than the epidemiological threshold... Looking at the nightmarish plates in which they put the gruel, I am generally surprised that there is no Ebola virus here,” says Navalny’s post on Instagram.
He also complained of poor nutrition and concluded by reporting that he had a fever and a severe cough. At the same time, the blogger claims that he continues his hunger strike.
Journalist Oleg Lurie believes that Navalny has completely lied.
“And again Navalny lies like he breathes. What kind of hunger strike is he talking about? According to his own confessions, he is now in a barracks (detachment) of the IK “in the next bed with a coughing prisoner,” and accordingly the blogger is not on any hunger strike, but is completely blatantly lying.
The fact is that, according to the internal regulations of a general regime correctional colony, a prisoner who has gone on hunger strike must submit official applications addressed to the head of the correctional colony and the prosecutor. During the day, the hungry person is transferred to a solitary room, where strict monitoring is carried out by doctors over the patient’s condition and by the Federal Penitentiary Service for hiding food. Nothing like this exists and is not expected,” Lurie wrote in his Telegram channel.
He does not understand how posts supposedly from Navalny appear on social networks, since he is prohibited from unofficial correspondence.
The strange post became a reason for Navalny activists to initiate a picket near the colony where Navalny is imprisoned, but it was mainly attended by journalists.
