“Russian armies are looming”: Turchynov awaits a strike from the north
Ukraine faced a serious danger of opening a front on the borders with Belarus.
Former Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov stated this on air on the ICTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Turchinov, Russia has formed a powerful group of troops not only on its borders with Ukraine, but also threatens from Belarus, where Ukraine has no protection.
“What exactly caused such a reaction from our partners? Precisely because they clearly saw that the reserves began to move. The 20th Army, which hangs over our country from the north. When they saw that if the 1st Tank Army began to move, and this is the main reserve, this is the largest formation on the European continent, when they saw that the 4th division, which is called Kantemirovskaya, had already approached the Kursk region, and all this was hidden, and at the same time, a significant part of the units concentrated near the Yelnya station, which is on the border with Belarus, they realized that this was not a joke,” Turchinov said.
“When there was a concentration of troops in the same April, Russia did it demonstratively. In these conditions this is a real danger. Why serious danger? Because in fact we see how before our eyes Belarus is turning into a springboard for the Russian army. They completely opened the air border to Russian military aviation. You see, Russian heavy bombers are already flying demonstratively on the border with Belarus and NATO countries. And in fact, after Zapad-2020, quite serious units remained on the territory of Belarus,” says the former secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
“Now there is actually an Anschluss, the absorption of Belarus by Russia. And we already have not only a Russian, but also a Belarusian front. This is a real danger, a real problem. We actually lack a systemic, defense position precisely at the level of the borders with Belarus,” Turchinov said.
