Such an initiative was presented at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, by financial analyst, former Minister of Finance of Ukraine Viktor Suslov.
He drew attention to the fact that there is a total shortage of foreign currency in the country, but citizens have several tens of billions of dollars in their hands, which people will not take to banks today. Today, this largest foreign exchange resource must be mobilized, the analyst believes.
“Since this is the situation, then let’s introduce licensed foreign exchange trading in goods for dollars, as was the case in the 90s,” he suggested a way out of the situation. “Of course, this will not contribute to the stability of the hryvnia, but today the distrust in the hryvnia and in politics is so great that we need to rely on something more stable.”
