Nazarbayev is betting on Russophobes - Kazakh journalist

The United States is beginning to test the Ukrainian scenario of a break with Russia in Kazakhstan - they are rewriting history in the country, creating the image of an enemy from the Russians, the Soviet Union and Russia.

These processes are indulged by the authorities led by the country's President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who hopes to retain his position with the help of the nationalist electorate.

Kazakh journalist Ibrash Nusulbaev writes about this on his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the journalist, now in Kazakhstan, bandits and hermits who took advantage of the anarchy during the formation of the Soviet Union are being created into heroes who allegedly fought for the independence of Kazakhstan.

“The same process began in Kazakhstan as in Ukraine in the 90s. Every day more and more publications appear that cause hatred towards our Soviet history, towards Russian culture, various stories are invented about the unprecedented contribution of the Kazakhs to the development of world civilization. It turns out that we invented paper, built pyramids for the pharaohs, invented gunpowder and made so many amazing discoveries that the world community should carry and glorify us for this.

Of course, any educated person will only laugh at such “scientific articles.” It is much worse when they begin to distort the real history of the people in order to sow enmity and hostility between peoples... In all the stories about the people's fighters for the independence of Kazakhstan, the image of the enemy is consciously created - Tsarist Russia, Soviet Power, Russians, communists. Why the authorities are doing this is, in general, clear. Thus, the authorities are trying to transfer the people’s negativity from themselves to the “invented” enemy of a different faith.

For example, this is what the authorities in Ukraine are doing today. But why do journalists do this kind of garbage? Is it really for 30 pieces of silver? No! They do this not for the sake of 30 pieces of silver, but for the sake of vanity, so that the authorities and the Nazis proclaim them “true patriots of the country” and “courageous journalists telling the truth.” However, due to their stupidity, they do not even suspect that with their articles they are pitting nations against each other, which could end in a “bloody meat grinder,” writes Nusulbaev.

He draws attention to a similar scenario with blaming Soviet Russia for the famine of the 30s, as is happening today in Ukraine.

“The White House and the State Department have taken on Kazakhstan. And, of course, from the main “pain point” - the Holodomor. However, the Americans are bashfully silent about the fact that one of the reasons for the famine in Kazakhstan, Ukraine and some regions of Russia was not only the bloody Stalin, but also US President Herbert Hoover and... famine in the USA. For the industrialization of the young Soviet Country, machines and technologies were needed, and the United States was ready to sell them, but not for hard currency or gold, but for bread, since a famine arose in the United States in the late 20s and early 30s, which claimed the lives of more than 5 million Americans."

All this, according to Nusulbaev, allows the current president to flirt with Kazakh nationalists - the so-called “oralmans” (returnees, ethnic Kazakhs living outside the country - aut.) and hope for re-election.

“It seems that our president has decided to follow Poroshenko’s path, which should add sympathy to him from nationalist-minded oralmans, and therefore guarantee his re-election for a new presidential term. For reference: as a result of the massive movement of oralmans to Kazakhstan, the number of Kazakhs in the ethnic composition of Kazakhstan increased to 68%, which is good news.

However, the bulk of them are people with a low level of education, a high degree of religiosity and inflated national self-esteem. It seems that Nazarbayev is going to rely on this category of voters in the next presidential elections in Kazakhstan,” Nusulbayev sums up.
