Reuters reported this today, citing a source in the government of Kazakhstan.

As the agency’s interlocutor clarified, the leader of the republic will interrupt his participation in the G20 summit of heads of state, which is currently taking place in China. Nazarbayev is due to arrive in Tashkent on Saturday, September 3.

According to the agency, the urgent visit to Tashkent means that Nazarbayev's government is preparing to officially announce the death of Uzbek President Islam Karimov.

Earlier, the Uzbek media published a message from the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic about the condition of the country's President Islam Karimov. It notes that the Uzbek leader’s condition has deteriorated sharply over the past XNUMX hours. In it, the Cabinet of Ministers also confirmed reports that Karimov suffered a stroke.

In Samarkand, the homeland of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, preparations are being made for the funeral of the head of state, the Fergana portals, the Uzbek service of Radio Liberty Ozodlik, as well as the website of the People's Movement of Uzbekistan report.

It also became known that on the night of September 2, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyaev arrived in Samarkand. The portal ca-news.org reports this. “All roads, starting from the Ulugbek Observatory to the Siyob market, are blocked, only those whose houses are in this area are allowed in, no one else is allowed in, not even cars. The Prime Minister is also here,” an official source said.

Eyewitnesses say they saw trucks carrying bricks near the Shahi Zinda mausoleum. They were also spotted near the Yulbarslar Hiyoboni square, located next to the family tomb of Guri-Amir.

It is reported that all last night thousands of janitors cleaned the area - from Registan Square to the Bibikhonim Mausoleum, Yulbarslar Khiyoboni (Tiger Square) square and Tashkent Street. Sources in the city administration confirmed information that the square is closed to pedestrians.
