Nazarbayev also wants visa-free travel with the EU
Kazakhstan intends to work on the issue of simplifying the visa regime with the European Union, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated this on Monday during the ceremony of presenting credentials to ambassadors of foreign states, the presidential website reports.
“This year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and the European Union. Our main task is the implementation of the agreement on expanded partnership and cooperation between Kazakhstan and the European Union signed in 2015. We will also mobilize our forces to implement Brussels’ strategy towards the countries of Central Asia, and we will resolve the issue of simplifying the visa regime between countries,” Nazarbayev said.
He noted that Kazakhstan’s relations with the European Union “are based on constructive dialogue, mutual understanding and respect.”
Since January 1, 2017, Kazakhstan has granted the right to visa-free entry into the country to citizens of countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as major investors in the Kazakh economy (45 countries in total). This decision was timed to coincide with the start of the Astana International Financial Center.
