Nazarbayev: Restoring relations between Russia and the West is impossible without resolving the Ukrainian crisis
Establishing a dialogue between Russia and the West will begin with the resolution of the conflict in Donbass. President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated this today during meetings with heads of diplomatic missions.
“We all understand that it is with the resolution of the Ukrainian-Russian crisis that the establishment of relations between the West and Russia begins,” the Kazakh publication Informburo quotes Nazarbayev.

For his part, Nazarbayev is ready to act as a mediator in the negotiation process.
“Events in the southeast of Ukraine led to sharp confrontation and unconstructive public debate between always close countries, such as the Russian-Ukrainian peoples. This is regrettable to all friends of these nations and, frankly speaking, especially to me. We call on the parties to begin a serious dialogue to resolve the issues that have arisen. I encourage this. Kazakhstan is ready to help the negotiation processes with all its might, and we are actually in this process,” Nazarbayev said.
In his opinion, constructive dialogue between the West and Russia is “the cornerstone in ensuring global stability and security.”
“Mutual sanctions cause serious damage not only to Europe and Russia, but also to other regions. They do not contribute to the restoration of the development of the world economy as a whole. I personally have great hopes for the meeting at the GXNUMX of the presidents of Russia and the United States of America, where places must be found in order to find a common position. We all understand that it is with the resolution of the Ukrainian-Russian crisis that the establishment of relations between the West and Russia begins,” Nazarbayev said.
