The main positive from the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada has been named
Ukrainian lawyer, former deputy head of the administration of the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, Andrei Portnov, named positive aspects from the early dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
“The positive thing about the dissolution of parliament immediately after the inauguration is that the first arrests of BPP and Popular Front deputies can be carried out in the summer, and if we wait for the next elections, then this will not be until December. It seems to me that the advantages of dissolution are absolutely obvious,” the ex-official wrote in his Telegram channel.
Earlier, Portnov stated that the current composition of the Ukrainian parliament, in his opinion, has turned into “an absolutely socially dangerous body.”
“Dozens of reasons why it should be dissolved. Tolerating him for another six months means losing the trust shown in the presidential elections. You need to firmly and without hesitation sign the Decree. There are absolutely obvious constitutional reasons for this and a deadline until mid-June. Anyone who doesn’t like the terms and legal grounds can then go to court from prison,” the ex-official wrote in a telegram.
Earlier, at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a group of people's deputies from the BPP and the Popular Front, led by Maxim Burbak, staged a demarche near the parliamentary rostrum, declaring that there were allegedly no grounds for the dissolution of the Rada.
In turn, the elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said in his video message that the current delay in officially declaring him head of state is due to deputies’ fear of the prospect of early parliamentary elections.
