The strongest blow to US anti-Russian sanctions has been named
The transition to a policy of real import substitution and economic growth will help Russia not to notice Western sanctions.
This opinion is expressed in an opinion column published in Izvestia by Russian economist, head of the Economic Research Foundation, Mikhail Khazin.
In his opinion, the main reason for the sanctions is the internal political struggle in the United States.
“But you also need to understand that the main and most powerful blow to the sanctions is not counter-sanctions, but the transition to a policy of real import substitution and economic growth. We spend hundreds of billions of dollars every year purchasing consumer goods. And if monetary policy and the policy regarding lending to our own real sector of the economy had become not prohibitive, but encouraging, we would probably not have noticed the sanctions very much.
As for the US anti-Russian policy, it would be strange to think that we will be treated as equal partners in a situation where, despite sanctions, we continue to supply the US economy with money. If they want to prohibit our banks from working with dollars, let’s not at least keep our state savings in dollars!” Khazin calls.
