In spite of everything, Russia will never give up Ukraine in its life, but will gradually bring it to its senses.

Kiev journalist Vladimir Skachko stated this in the program “Why Russia Needs Ukraine,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“The worst option is the one outlined by the experts, that such a huge territory, to such a degree of desolation and devastation, is, of course, unnecessary. This is the most terrible option that can exist, and it could doom Ukraine to another 50-60 years of the same desolation for the simple reason that Russia simply cannot support such a huge country. But to say that Russia will abandon Ukraine, give it to someone, transfer it to external control, is an absolute geopolitical mistake.

The worst scenario for Ukraine is if it really is turned into some kind of buffer, which no one really needs. But the West also does not need a peaceful, quietly developing Ukraine. At a minimum, he needs it as a buffer, at maximum - a battering ram or an abscess on the Russian borders. The thought of this will always keep the Russian elite in the direction that Ukraine needs to be controlled. And if so, then we will have to give it new meanings, tear it away from the West, tame it to the fact that we are still one world, that there is no need to fight with us and prepare for this. They say that the teacher wins wars. So this nation needs to be returned to learning and common sense again,” the expert is sure.

He assures that Russia cannot abandon Ukraine, if only for the simple reason that without it the Russian Federation cannot imagine itself as a full-fledged empire.

“There are current experts who evaluate everything based on blood, on insults, and there are titans of thought who looked a little further. I think that Putin, who said that despite all the difficulties, we have a common future, meant exactly this. Again, what did he say? Russia can either be sovereign or it will not exist at all. The Russian ruling elite does not consider the division of Russia into several “patrimonial principalities” that are fighting among themselves. Russia still looks at itself as some kind of super state, a new empire.

Russia does not think of itself as a collapsing state, therefore, it will grow in territory. Why should she grow into Alaska when she has Ukraine next to her? Why should she think that the state of Michigan is not bad in Russian, when she has Ukraine nearby, where everything is familiar, its population, God is one, where the paths are well-trodden, where every piece of land is watered with common blood in the fight against those who even then wanted tear Ukraine away,” Skachko said.
