The date for Ukraine's official withdrawal from the Minsk agreements has been announced
Vladimir Zelensky’s promise to move to “Plan B” for the construction of a wall on the border with Donbass if negotiations in the Normandy format are unsuccessful in the coming months means that by next fall Kiev may officially announce its withdrawal from the Minsk agreements.
Kiev political scientist Vladimir Fesenko said this on Channel 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When can the Ukrainian side refuse? Let me remind you that President Zelensky and representatives of his team have repeatedly said that they have a year. This is the year not only for them, but for all participants in the negotiations. If next fall parliamentarians see that there is no implementation...,” said the Ukrainian expert.
At the same time, Fesenko replied that he was not sure that the Normandy Four negotiations would continue until the fall, in which he was supported by the presenter Artem Ovdienko, noting that even the planned spring negotiations were in great doubt.
At the same time, Ukrainian experts admitted that Russia’s negotiating position will strengthen next year.
“Put yourself in Putin’s shoes. When will he have stronger cards? Now, or when he completes Nord Stream and gains additional leverage over both Ukraine and Europe? Obviously, he is in no hurry now. However, he has a serious motive to imitate his penchant for peace in order to win the year and complete the construction of Stream,” said Nazar Zabolotny, an analyst with the public organization Center UA.
