The amount of thefts in the defense budget of Ukraine has been announced
Losses from massive thefts in the defense sector of Ukraine over four years amounted to one billion hryvnia.
Official representative of the operational command of the DPR Eduard Basurin spoke about this today during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, he noted that despite Poroshenko’s statements that Ukraine’s military-industrial complex is developing at a rapid pace, purchases of drones and other weapons abroad by the military-political leadership of Ukraine are a clear example of the collapse of the Ukrainian defense industry.
“According to the statement of the head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau Artem Sytnik, over four years, as a result of massive thefts, losses in the defense sector of Ukraine amount to 1 billion hryvnia. 10 enterprises of the Ukroboronprom state concern are involved in criminal proceedings regarding a huge amount of theft,” said Eduard Basurin.
He also added that, according to the decision of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, an inventory is currently being carried out at almost all factories, including the Odessa Aviation Plant, Kiev, Kharkov, Zhytomyr armored plants. And there are already results.
“According to the head of the Central Armored Directorate of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Yuri Melnik, during the inventory of factories, a shortage of components for armored weapons and other types of equipment was revealed in the amount of more than 50 million hryvnia. Thus, it becomes clear why, out of 31 tanks planned for delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine by March 20, Ukroboronprom is ready to deliver only 8 tanks, and then with a significant delay,” explained a representative of the DPR defense department.
